Strike King and Mr. Crappie Team Up for Innovative Additions to the Crappie Line-Up

Serious crappie anglers have trusted Strike King and Mr. Crappie to put more slabs in the boat. Now for the 2022 season, the legendary crappie line-up has a host of new offerings. Introducing the Sausage Head Spin, Marabou Sausage Spin, the Slab Sticker and the groundbreaking Slab Daddy Live Hair Jig.

Once again, Strike King has partnered with the legendary Mr. Crappie himself, pro angler and lure designer Wally Marshall, to announce the Strike King Sausage Head Spin. The innovative Sausage Head is engineered to deflect off cover and point the hook away from a snag when it is bounced off brush, bridge columns or docks. Marshall, the creator of this design, explains: “Crappie anglers get snagged more than most. We just do!  But with the Strike King Sausage Head, that #2 Eagle Claw hook will actually dash to the side when you hit cover. And now, with Sausage Head Spin sporting a small willow blade, you will get a little flash with your dash.”

Marshall offers that the main benefit of the 3/4-inch hammered willow leaf underspin is not to turn, but to simply create a subtle glimmer, vibration, and sound. This added disturbance makes it a lethal bait in stained water or under lowlight or cloudy conditions.

Marshall prefers Strike King’s new Marabou Sausage Spin when casting to open water structure. “The Strike King Marabou is the closest thing in the line-up to movement of live bait. I use it when the fish are around deep structure, or suspended over contour like ledges and ditches,” says Mr. Crappie. He offers that, like the Slabalicous, the Marabou Sausage Spin is also an exceptional long-line trolling option for a limit of slabs.

2022 marks an important year for the Strike King Mr. Crappie series, with the announcement of a remarkable innovation. With so many anglers relying on advanced sonar imaging, Wally Marshall and the engineers at Strike King have teamed to develop a jig that illuminates clearly on live image sonar units – the Strike King Slab Daddy Live Hair Jig. Wally casts this jig when he is fishing with sonar, particularly around deep structure or ledges in 25 to 30 feet. However, due to the baits unique profile, it is also an exceptional choice for shooting docks.

Finally, Strike King and Mr. Crappie have also expanded the line of jig heads with the Slab Sticker. Complete in 1/32, 1/16, 1/8, and 3/16-ounce sizes and six vibrant colors, the Slab Sticker is equipped with premium Stiletto Gamakatsu hooks and a Nano Alpha finish. Like the Sausage Head, these durable and eye-popping jig heads feature the exceptionally effective Quick Stick bait keeper, that ensures soft plastics stay firmly attached for more fights and longer hours of fishing.

There are no names trusted more for putting slabs in the boat than Strike King and Mr. Crappie. Mr. Crappie lures are built with distinct, eye-popping colors and explosive designs that entice fish and attract more strikes. Crappie anglers who fish Mr. Crappie by Strike King fish with the confidence that they are using the best. And the fish seem to agree.
